Audio Guide α Waiting for GPS
--km/h

On board, GPS guides you from where you are

Turn on the audio guide and ride along. It tells you what is coming up before the view passes. Your location is used for guidance and is not stored on external servers.

Not on board yet? The preview ride plays the whole Tokyo-Shin-Osaka guide without asking for your location.

In a browser the guide stops when the screen turns off or you switch apps. On board, the app is the reliable one.

Get the app on Google Play Guidance and audio keep running with the screen off. Free, no sign-up.
  • Predicts the next view from your live position
  • Choose key spots only, or include small curiosities
  • Map and countdown help you avoid missing it

How it works

  1. Once you are on a Tokaido Shinkansen, tap Start with GPS on this page
  2. It works out the next view from your location and calls it with audio and a countdown
  3. It also tells you whether to watch the Seat A or Seat E side, so you face the right window

This feature is an alpha. Positions and timing are still being tuned and may be off.
