How to find Gifu Castle

After Gifu-Hashima, around the Kiso Three Rivers, Mt. Kinka may be visible far away on the Seat E side. Gifu Castle sits on its summit. The castle is more than 10 km from the Shinkansen line, so spotting the keep itself takes a clear day and a focused eye. The photo shown here was taken from the Tokaido Main Line as a reference view of the same castle.

If you are traveling from Tokyo toward Shin-Osaka, start watching the Seat E · mountain side window as you approach Gifu-Hashima → Maibara. If you are traveling toward Tokyo, the order is reversed.

Why this view matters

Gifu Castle is one of the window views that make the Tokaido Shinkansen more than a transfer. The train moves fast, so visibility depends on weather, seat position, and timing.
